The Kent KZ260 mountain bike is a discount mountain bike manufactured by Kent International Inc, in Parsippany, New Jersey. As of fall, 2020 it is the only “Kent” brand mountain bike that is available on Amazon. However, this bike is quite popular as it is rated as Amazon’s 5th best-selling mountain bike.

In this review, I will do the following:

• List the Product Specifications For the KZ2600
• Pros and Cons of this bike as evaluated via their Amazon reviews.

If you are curious about the Kent bike brand I will briefly go over Kent in the Appendix and introduce you to some of their other bikes.

• Fifth Best Selling Mountain Bike on Amazon
• Great Deal For The Price-As of the writing of this review, September 2020, this bike can be purchased for well under $300.
• Easy to Setup-Vast majority of verified purchasers stated that it was easy to setup. One purchase even said his 16-year old son set it up in under 60 minutes. This is impressive as a common complaint among bike users is having to take it to a bike shop to get it assembled.
• Decent Specs-For its price, the aluminum 26″ frame, which is solidly built, quite impressive for its discount price.
• Looks- Even people who gave this bike low reviews stated that it looks sharp.
• Warranty-Lifetime, limited warranty for the frame
• Light- The aluminum frame is quite lite.
• Operates Smoothly- The middle gears are said to run relatively smoothly.

  CONS

• Seat-The included seat is said to be quite uncomfortable and will need to be replaced.
• Handle Bars- Some low reviews mentioned that the handlebars will not stay straight.
• Not Good For Short People-A few negative reviews mentioned that this bike is not suitable for shorter people. A 5’11” verified purchaser even said he had a hard time jumping on this bike. However, a 5’6″ purchaser said it worked just fine for him.
• Tires-A few mention that the tires are substandard and wear out quickly.
• Very Poor Ratings On The Kent Website. Barely above a one-star out of five stars on their website. (Only four reviews though). Most of the complaints detailed that the bike that they bought was a lemon. One reviewer stated that within a few months of getting this mountain bike, the suspension fork and the rear derailleur needed to be replaced,

Final Thoughts

I would recommend the Kent Kent KZ2600. This is a decent mountain bicycle for its price. Some indications of it being a good bicycle are that it has numerous reviews and is overall rated above-average. Also, unlike many bicycles and other products, I cannot find any problem trends from the reviews. The majority of low reviews did not indicate that the KZ2600 has any underlying problem.

Most of the complaints mentioned were for shipping issues. They did not indicate that the KZ2600 suffered from a lack of overall quality. For example, a purchaser complained that he received a bent frame, and another purchase mentioned that pedals were missing. These complaints were few and indicated a shipping problem and not an overall quality problem. The only problem that I could see that could have indicated a trend was that that factory tire was substandard.

In conclusion, the KZ2600 will serve you quite well as a commuter bike, and for where you may have to occasionally deal with rough terrain or poor weather. However, you also need to realize that KZ2600 a discount, WalMart bike; as such, you won’t see features, like knobby tires, or $1,000 plus mountain bike wheels that are shown below. 🙂

With its company headquarters at Parsippany, NJ, Kent International Inc. is a united states company that manufactures and distributes Kent bicycles. Kent was founded in 1909, and they manufacture the Kent bicycle. They also have companies (with different names) that specialize in everything from children’s bicycles, bicycle safety equipment, and even bike strollers. In 2014, they were considered to be the 2nd largest bike manufacturer in the USA. Kent and its various companies are known for being discount bike makers that are a good value for what you are paying. Kent ships all of the bicycles and accessories worldwide.

Kent Manufacturers a number of other bike styles, like the cruiser bike (AKA “Comfort Bike”), hybrid bike, BMX bike, tandem bike, and even an electric bike.

They make children’s first bicycles and even bicycle trailer/strollers. ● Giordano Bicycles- They primarily manufacture road and hybrid/comfort bikes. ● Razor Bikes-High-End Moutain bikes for children. ● GMC-Road bikes and Mountain bikes. (No Relation To The Automobile Company) ● Takara-They have taken over the majority of Kent’s mountain bikes.
